Physics 101 Introduction to Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation.
The content of this introductory course in ultrasound physics and instrumentation includes basic principles of sound production and interaction. Instrumentation and image optimization will be foundational objectives. Safety issues will also be emphasized.
Initial lecture and course objectives presented at opening seminar in Las Vegas. Monthly assignments will be scheduled and graded via distance learning. Weekly assignments will require approximately four hours per week to complete.
Physics 102 Continuation of Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation.
Interactive exercises and research projects will be assigned to facilitate a better working knowledge of sonographic principles and instrumentation.
Four monthly seminars will be held in Las Vegas, NV(2) and Raleigh, NC(2) for didactic presentations and discussion of material.
Physics 103 Review of Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation and Registry Preparation.
Practice tests and review of all content areas for the ARDMS examination will be administered.
Two seminars will be held, one in Raleigh, NC and one at a Pegasus Review Seminar.
OB/GYN 101 Introduction to Obstetrics and Gynecological Sonography
The content of this course in will include cross-sectional obstetrical and gynecological anatomy, with limited physiology. Fetal growth and development as well as gynecological and obstetrical exam requisites (fetal biometry) for the corresponding stages of fetal development will be presented.
OB/GYN 102 Continuation of Obstetrics and Gynecological Sonography
The content of this course will focus upon the identification of normal and abnormal structures and conditions with an emphasis upon anomalies and special conditions/considerations.
OB/GYN 103 Review of Obstetrics and Gynecological Sonography
The content of this course will include a review of obstetrical and gynecological sonography and registry preparation. Fetal syndromes and the continuation of abnormalities/anomalies/special conditions will be presented along with attention to proper communication and documentation thereof.
Sonographic Clinical Education (Clinic 101-103)
Clinical education is hands-on participation in medical sonography. Supervised scanning is scheduled with specific competences to be completed. Schedules may vary depending on individual documented experience. The goal is to achieve a minimum of 800 supervised sonograms to fulfill the ARDMS requirements. Those with minimal experience should expect approximately three full days per week for the twelve month program.
